Making Time for God

Do you find yourself realizing that you haven't spent any, or enough, time with God?
I know, for me, I set a goal for myself one month last year to spend time with God 5 days a week, at a minimum, with the larger goal of spending time with God every day. I ended up reaching my goal but now, I am out of the habit and need to get myself back into it. How often do you spend time with God?
Of course life gets in the way so, if this is a habit you are interested in, here are some ways you can build up to the place you want to be!
One of the best ways to create a habit is to start small. So, for example, if you want to spend time with God every day, you should start by spending time with God once a week, and then make your goals larger as you get in the habit until you eventually reach your goal! Don’t forget to congratulate yourself as you go, you are taking steps toward reaching your goal - no matter how often it might be - you are spending time with God!
I was reading a great article from Proverbs 31 Ministries on creative reminders to pray. Here are a few ideas inspired from this article!
Find things in your daily life that remind you of them as your reminder! For example, if your friend Jenny asked you to pray for her, and you know that she owns a Chevy Malibu, use the car as a reminder the next time you see this car to pray for her.
Set an alarm, or a calendar reminder in your phone and pray for them when it goes off!
Carry a small notebook and write down what or who you need to pray for.
God wants us to know him, and he wants to have a relationship with us! Psalm 55:16-17 says “ As for me, I call to God, and the Lord saves me. Evening, morning and night, I cry in distress and he saves me.” So no matter when you choose to spend time with God, he is there for you!
